Rekindling Your Inner Creative Flame

Lindsay's journey begins with a realization many of us can relate to: Losing ourselves in adulthood. Between taking care of the kids, meal planning, cooking, cleaning, managing home and schedules, and sports stuff and homework, and friends, and marriage, and everything else……it’s easy to lose touch with ourselves, our creativity, and the things that bring us joy and make us feel alive.

Lindsey, in the hustle and bustle of adulting, felt herself losing touch with her creative side. The spark that once defined her was flickering, and she knew it was time to rekindle it.

The Lesson: It's never too late to reconnect with your inner artist. Embrace the passions that once defined you and reignite the creative flame within.

Making Time for Creativity

One of the most common challenges people face when it comes to pursuing their creative passions is finding the time. Lindsay, a busy mom homeschooling her kids, knows this struggle all too well. But she made a conscious decision to prioritize creativity in her life. And the result has been astounding. Not only did she start to feel better herself, but that led her to show up more fully for the people she loved instead of everyone getting the bottom of the barrel version.

One thing she did to make time is come up with a dedicated time. For her, Wednesday nights are now her creative time. It takes planning and good communication, but Linds is proof that you actually do have time for your passions and by leaning in, it has a positive ripple effect for everyone around you.

Creative Self-Care

So what if your thing is getting down and dirty with all the crafty stuff. That’s okay! Lindsay's journey isn't just about crafting and creating. It's about self-care and self-discovery. By allowing herself to be creative, she found that she became a better mom and a happier person overall.

So think about what it is for you? What is something you love that you have given up? Could you reintroduce something that you used to love as a kid into your life? How would that impact your well being or everyday mood?

Something to think about…..

Communicate and Set Boundaries

Probably the biggest and most critical aspect of Lindsay's creative journey is her improved communication with her husband. By setting aside designated creative nights and openly discussing her needs, they found a balance that allowed both of them to pursue their passions.

Effective communication and setting boundaries are key to maintaining a good balance between your personal creativity and your relationships. Sometimes the things we love are NOT the things that our partners love, and that’s okay!

Learning to communicate our needs and support the other in theirs is something worth working on

Inspire and Empower Others

The coolest thing we uncovered in this episode is that Lindsay's creativity doesn't just stop with her; it's a ripple effect. Her journey has inspired and empowered others to embrace their creative sides, reminding us that creativity is contagious.

Simple Steps to Start

If you're feeling inspired but unsure where to begin, Lindsay's advice is simple—just start. Experiment with different creative outlets, whether it's coloring, crafting, or even just browsing a craft store. The key is to allow yourself to explore without judgment.

Don't overthink it; take the first step. Start with something that piques your interest and let your creative journey unfold naturally.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of self-discovery and creativity.
Until next time, keep that creative spark alive and thriving.
