EPISODE 31 GRAPHIC.png

Have you ever stared at a closet full of clothes but felt like you had nothing to wear? Yep. Me too. My guest today, Delee Cox is here to help solve that problem. Delee has a passion for slow fashion and is out to help women find confidence in their personal style, learn to love what they already have, and to dress for themselves.

In this episode:

Finding Confidence in your personal style

Shopping Your Closet. Reimagining your clothes. Getting things hemmed or tailored before just throwing something out.

Unrealistic Expectations around beauty, style, and trends- and what actually works for your lifestyle and makes you feel good.

Personal style and keeping up with trends- spoiler* not every trend works for everyone!

Shifting your Mindset around your clothing. Figuring out what you love. The fit, the fabric, and how you FEEL in it.

Closet Basics. Things you can mix and match.
A great fitting pair of jeans.
A pair of joggers. Something you can wear casually, but dress up when needed.
Neutral tops (in the style that you love)
Blazer, trench coat, cardigan. Something to layer and add structure.
Good t-shirts
Shoes: sneakers, booties, flats.
Keeping to a similar color palette helps keep your closet cohesive and versatile.

Creating a LOOK BOOK for yourself/closet. Just like a fashion blogger, take pictures of outfits you put together and that you love! Keep them in an album on your phone that you can use for inspiration to get dressed each day.

Utilize Pinterest to reinvent the clothes you ALREADY have! Search for a specific item like “army green pants outfit” and then you can get more ideas on how to style something you already have.

What is slow fashion and why is it important? Slow fashion is the idea of being really conscious about the clothes you bring into your closet and using a lot of what you already have. It also brings in the idea of sustainable fashion and the environmental impact that it has. It also brings in ethical fashion which is realizing that there are human beings behind the clothes that we wear. It’s basically understanding where our clothes come from and what happens to them once we discard them.

Make little shifts and changes instead of feeling overwhelmed with saving the world.

  1. Wear and Care for the clothing that you already have. We have 60% more clothes than our parents generation, but we wear them half as long.

  2. Shop less and shop with a list. What do you REALLY need in your wardrobe.

  3. Shop second hand.

Second Hand or Thrifting Shopping Tips:

  1. Try online thrifting. Knowing your measurements is key! You can search online for what you want instead of digging through racks in a store.

  2. Favorite Online Thrift Shops: ThredUp, The RealReal, Poshmark

  3. Know what fabrics that you love. Look for natural fabrics like cotton or denim vs polyester, nylon…

The clothes you wear really do make a difference in how you show
up in the world each day.
